About Us

What People Say About Us

“The first time I encountered the team from The Oil of Joy Zimbabwe, I felt more than just relief—I felt seen and valued. They didn’t just provide food and clothing; they brought hope, kindness, and a promise that we are not alone in our struggles.”

Our Values

Our core values are influenced by our past tempered by our present and will shape the future. They are an amalgam of what we have been, what we are, and what we aspire to be. To us transparency is the key to real service delivery. We make transparency a driving
principle in our work, and in our interaction with others. We do itright the first time.

Strategic Goals

  • To create awareness about the plight of orphans, widows, and
disadvantaged people in Zimbabwe with a view to getting everyone involved in the eradication of poverty and the stigma
    associated with underprivileged people.
  • To offer relief services that have a motive for improved spirit, soul and body.
  • To contribute positively to sustainable development through our empowerment programs.

Mission

To bridge the gap between the rich and the poor with a view to having a shared good life that glorifies God and contributes to a positive transformation of our communities.

Vision

To comfort all who mourn, to give them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness, the planting of the Lord that He may be glorified, that they may be called trees of righteousness.

Background

Following the launch of Mufaro Gospel Show in November 2006 – a conceptual brainchild of our chairperson and prominent gospel musician, Elizabeth Ankomah, we registered tremendous
achievements that laid a firm foundation for this dynamic and eminent vision. The launch of Mufaro Gospel Show on November 4, 2006 at the Harare Gardens in the centre of Zimbabwe’s capital city, saw various gospel artists playing alongside the host, Elizabeth Ankomah, to entertain orphans and widows drawn from within and around Harare.

Among the numerous donations received for the opening show, Peak Time Motors were generous to donate a minibus to the Chinyaradzo Children’s Home (pictured below), while the Grain Marketing Board (GMB) gave food items enough to feed children from the 12 represented orphanages for six months. Such initial gestures and the growing morale support to the noble vision gave strength and inspiration to the Mufaro Gospel Show founder to establish a Trust. And so, The Oil of Joy Trust Fund was born, a baby that stakeholders and well-wishers should help grow in the interest of disadvantaged people in Zimbabwe.

Together, we can make a positive difference to the lives of orphans, street children, disabled prisoners, HIV/AIDS infected people, widows, widowers, and indeed all other disadvantaged people in Zimbabwe. A nation that cares for its needy becomes stronger, prospers, and develops faster. So The Oil of Joy Trust Fund was initially established as a platform that would award institutions and the general an opportunity to exercise their social responsibility.
